  National Taiwan Library (part 1) The National Taiwan Library ( 國立臺灣圖書館 ) is a significant institution in Taiwan. Founded in 1914, it is the oldest public library in Taiwan. It was inaugurated on 28 September 1985 by Prof. S Jayakumar, who was serving as the Minister for Law & Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Law at that time. This library was the sixth branch established by the National Library Board (NLB). Initially, it was referred to as Bedok Community Library and retained this name until 2008. After providing services to the community for 32 years at its initial location, the library was temporarily shut down on 20 August 2017. Subsequently, it moved to a new integrated complex, Heartbeat@Bedok. The library reopened at its new location on 28 October 2017, with the inauguration ceremony presided over by Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, the then Minister for Communications and Information.
